The 2021 Mazda CX-9 is among the best mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUVs) in 2021. There are four trims available; Sport, Touring, Carbon Edition, and Grand Touring. The Touring is the best value for money. Here is a review of Mazda’s new masterpiece, which is already on the market, starting at $35,750.
Engine, Transmission and Drivetrain
Under the hood, the CX-9 packs a SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-Liter engine that puts up a whopping 320 lb-ft torque @ 2,500 rpm. It’s assisted by a SKYACTIV®-Drive six-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift and Sport Mode. Regarding the drivetrain, the CX-9 has two options; i-ACTIV AWD® with Off-road Traction Assist or front-wheel drive (FWD). The acceleration is impressive. The CX-9 can hit 60 mph in just 7.1 seconds!
The CX5 is a seven-seater when the third row is in use. The interior oozes royalty courtesy of the black leather or sand leather upholstery and the all-new 10.3-inch infotainment system, and Mazda Connected Services suite. Other features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, heated front seats, and ambient temperature & clock display.
The CX-9 displays a massive front grille in bright finish and black front, rear, and side lower body moldings. It is available in six color options; sonic silver metallic, soul red crystal, jet black mica, deep crystal blue mica, snowflake white pearl mica, and machine gray metallic.
When it comes to safety, the CX-9 comes with the latest features, including Roll Stability Control, Lane-keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning System, engine-immobilizer anti-theft system, Dynamic Stability Control, and Anti-lock Brake System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution & Brake Assist just to mention a few.
Considering the style, performance, safety, and price, the CX-9 is among the best mid SUVs on the market. It brushes shoulders with the likes of the Toyota Highlander and Chevrolet Traverse.
